A Writing Portfolio by Justin Edwards
Journals
The following are Journal responses from the course of this semester. Along with each Journal response is the prompt in the upper right corner. Each journal is written to help me consider my progress in regards to this portfolio as well as my growth as a writer.
Unlike many of my colleagues, I was not asked to keep a journal in m English course last semester. As a result, this in is a new experience for me, especially in that I am being asked to write about my own writing. It proved to be tedious at times, but I tried my best to remained engaged. One benefit I found in journaling in this course was that because we were assigned topics, I was forced to consider questions I had not previously thought of. This proved to be a helpful exercise to help me to see the progression of my portfolio.
The format of these assignments is I first reflect on how the journal topic relates on myself and then consider why it was asked to us, the students. The writing in this section is not formal because to me it was more important that I write for reflection than to worry about the formalities that tend to dominate academic writing.
